Michelle Obama’s favorite designers

The first ladies of the United States are usually expected to dress fashionably and look great when meeting world leaders. Michelle Obama as the first lady of the United States has always had a great sense of style but seemed to dress more for the office than for the fan of fashion. Over the years, she’s had the help of stylists and famous designers to help her drape her tall frame in the best way possible. Here are some of her best looks over the years.

Michelle Obama chose Jason Wu as her designer of choice for both inauguration balls. He is her favorite designer for these kinds of occasions. The first dress was white with flower appliques and the second was was red velvet. Both designs were custom made for her and flowed easily on her body. Jason Wu apparently is never told when she is about to wear one of his designs and is instead as surprised as everyone else.

Michael Kors

The first lady is also a fan of the designer Michael Kors and has worn his designs on several occasions. She famously wore the same gray tweed suit as the lead character on the Good Wife (who also happens to be a lawyer married to a politician). She also famously wore a MK gown to the Kennedy Center Awards in 2012 which left everyone breathless. She chose a one-shoulder gown by MK for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 42nd annual Phoenix Awards dinner in Washington. He is one of her favorite designers and she wears his clothes very often.
